They have secured Emma Curtis from AFCA to introduce AFCA and its role as the free\, independent complaint resolution body for the financial services sector\, with a focus on general insurance. \nThe presentation will cover recent trends and current issues in general insurance complaints and will be tailored to loss adjusters. It will include case studies and tips and guidance about how AFCA approaches the resolution of complaints\, including how we weigh evidence and information. \nEmma has 25 years’ experience in financial services law and governance\, including over 10 years as a regulator. Before joining AFCA as Lead Ombudsman – Insurance three years ago\, Emma was the Senior Executive Leader – Insurers with ASIC\, leading the insurance supervision team. Emma was joint acting Executive Director of ASIC’s Financial Services Group through the period that included the 2019-20 bushfires and the unfolding of the COVID-19 pandemic. Emma also has prior experience in senior in-house legal roles with Australian financial services firms. \n
